This is the first of these scroll-saw art projects I did.
Just a little bit ambitious for a first attempt; but I like it.
This image on the left was the first computer image I ever created.
I drew the black & white image on a computer, with a very strange and basic mouse, in about 1985 (a long time ago).
The black & white image was very ‘dotty’ (raster) so I played with it a lot to make it more solid black & white, then converted it to the line drawing (vector) image below it (using the excellent (and free) ‘InkScape’ software).
This was then used to create the final wood-cut below.
It’s cut from 6 mm thick, pale, fine-grained baltic-birch plywood, on a 6 mm thick black background.
It’s 21 cm wide x 30 cm tall.
Some people aren’t so keen on this one, but I’ve had this image with me for so long now. I think it’s probably still my favourite.
